New construction roofing in Edmonton, from deck to membrane

A roofing subcontractor that reads the spec, submits on time, holds the schedule and leaves you a roof that passes inspection the first time.

Overview

New construction roofing in Edmonton runs on a tight calendar. The roof is usually on the critical path: interior trades are waiting for the building to be dried in, and the installation season is short. General contractors need a roofer who will submit complete paperwork early, show up when scheduled and finish without a punch list that drags into closeout.

We install the full roof assembly, from the vapour retarder on the deck to the last piece of cap flashing, on warehouse, industrial, institutional and commercial projects across the Edmonton region.

For owners, the payoff comes later. A roof built carefully at the start, with good drainage and complete records, costs less to maintain, qualifies cleanly for its warranties and is far easier to look after for the next 20 to 30 years. We build every new roof expecting to be the contractor who inspects it for the rest of its life.

Submittals done properly

Product data, shop drawings, manufacturer letters and sample warranties, organized by spec section and sent on time.

Schedule you can plan around

In-house crews sized to your dry-in date, with a site lead at every coordination meeting.

Spec followed, not substituted

We build what was designed. Where we see a better detail, we raise it through an RFI, not on the roof.

Prequalified

COR-certified, with ISNetworld, Avetta and ComplyWorks status, WCB clearance and hot-work liability coverage ready for your file.

Working with general contractors

We understand that the roof is one scope among dozens on your schedule. We give you a realistic duration at tender, update you weekly once mobilized, and tell you early if weather or a late deck will move our dates. Our site lead attends coordination meetings and works out curbs, sleeves and rooftop unit sets with the mechanical and electrical trades before the membrane goes down, not after.

Once the roof is on, other trades will want to walk on it. We help you set traffic routes and protection so the finished roof is not damaged before the owner takes it over.

Specs, submittals and the paper trail

Consultants and owners notice when a roofing submittal is incomplete. Ours are organized by specification section and include product data sheets, system approval letters from the manufacturer, insulation and tapered layouts, typical and project-specific details, and a sample of the warranty to be issued.

During the work we keep daily reports, photos of concealed layers and inspection records. Those records end up in the closeout package, and they matter years later if there is ever a warranty question.

Roofing crew working inside temporary guardrails

New construction roofing from deck to membrane

On a new building we have the best chance to get drainage right. We review drain locations against the tapered design, add crickets behind curbs and between drains, and make sure flashing heights will still work after the full insulation thickness is installed. In winter we plan for temporary roofing to dry the building in, and for cold-weather limits on adhesives and sealants.

Safety on a shared site

Roofing is high-risk work on a site full of other trades, so we treat safety as part of the schedule rather than a separate binder. Before mobilizing we submit our site-specific safety plan, fall protection plan and hazard assessments. On the roof that means guardrails or warning lines at edges, anchored fall arrest where needed, controlled access points and a fire watch after torch work.

Our crews attend your orientation and toolbox talks, and our site lead reports incidents and near misses through your system as well as ours. For prequalification, we can provide our COR certificate, safety statistics, WCB-Alberta clearance letter and certificate of insurance with hot-work coverage at tender.

Process

How we handle it

  1. Bid and clarify

We price from the drawings and Division 07 roofing sections and list clarifications and assumptions plainly, so there are no surprises at award.

  2. Submit and coordinate

Submittals go in by spec section. We attend the pre-roofing conference with the consultant, manufacturer and mechanical trades to settle curbs, penetrations and sequence.

  3. Accept the deck

Before we start, we check the deck for fastening, flatness, moisture and drain locations, and record any issues in writing.

  4. Install the assembly

Vapour retarder, insulation and tapered layout, cover board, membrane, flashings and metal, installed in the order the spec and manufacturer require.

  5. Inspect and close out

Manufacturer and ARCA inspections as specified, deficiencies cleared promptly, and a closeout binder with warranties, as-builts and maintenance guidance.

Questions

What facility managers ask us

Ask your own
Can you price from our tender documents?

Yes. Send drawings, the roofing and sheet metal specification sections and any addenda. We will return a price with clear inclusions, exclusions and clarifications.

Do you supply and install the sheet metal flashings?

Yes, prefinished metal flashings, cap flashings and scuppers are typically in our scope. We confirm the split with you at tender so nothing falls between trades.

Can you dry in the building in winter?

Yes. We can install a temporary roof or a vapour retarder that serves as one, so interior work can continue, then complete the permanent system when conditions meet the manufacturer's requirements.

Who issues the roof warranty on a new building?

Usually two or three parties: the manufacturer for materials or the total system, the roofing contractor for workmanship, and ARCA where the spec calls for an ARCA Warranty Certificate. We can provide all three where the system and project qualify.

What do we get at closeout?

Executed warranties, an as-built roof plan, product data, inspection reports, a photo record of concealed work and basic maintenance guidance for the owner.

Can you look after the roof once the building is handed over?

Yes. Many owners move straight onto one of our maintenance programs, so the crew that built the roof is the one that inspects it each spring and fall and responds if anything goes wrong during the warranty period and beyond.

Talk to the crew that stands behind the roof

Send us drawings, a spec or just an address. You get a clear scope, a written warranty and a roofer who answers the phone in a storm.
